Job summary

Truckingpeople in Austin seeks Safety Drivers / Vehicle Operators to support autonomous vehicle testing and real-world driving. You will operate and monitor autonomous vehicles on public roads, collecting driving data and assisting in the development of self-driving technology.

No autonomous vehicle experience is required — paid training is provided. The role involves driving on city streets and highways, following safety procedures, and working independently with focus and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of driving experience and a clean driving record.
• Daily or high-frequency driving experience preferred.
• Valid U.S. driver's license with 3+ years of continuous licensing history.
• Strong driving and vehicle-control skills.
• Comfortable driving in city traffic, highways, and various weather conditions.
• Familiar with GPS, navigation, smartphones, and mobile apps.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor autonomous vehicles during real-world testing.
• Drive on city streets and highways.
• Take control of the vehicle when necessary.
• Follow traffic laws and practice defensive driving.
• Monitor traffic, pedestrians, road conditions and surrounding vehicles.
• Perform vehicle safety checks and document driving events.
