Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute is seeking a Test Engineer for autonomous sUAS systems. You will plan, execute, and analyze tests to validate performance, autonomy, and mission readiness for defense and national security missions.

The role supports lab and field testing from Beavercreek, OH or Columbus, OH. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop test strategies, analyze telemetry, and deliver customer demonstrations and flight test operations, bringing innovative autonomous

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• 5+ years in test engineering or aerospace systems.
• Experience developing verification and validation strategies for complex systems.
• Proficiency with Python, C++, MATLAB.
• Experience analyzing telemetry, sensor, and performance data.
• Familiarity with systems engineering processes and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel for testing activities and customer demonstrations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of test plans and verification activities for autonomous sUAS systems.
• Design and conduct laboratory, simulation, integration, environmental, and field-testing activities.
• Evaluate system performance against requirements and objectives.
• Develop traceability between requirements, tests, and results.
• Identify risks and propose mitigations throughout development lifecycle.
• Validate autonomous capabilities such as GPS-denied navigation and path planning.
• Support flight test planning, readiness reviews, and data quality assurance.
• Develop automated test tools, utilities, and data analysis scripts.
• Collaborate with software, RF, cybersecurity, and hardware teams.
