Job summary

Battelle is seeking a Senior Test Engineer, Autonomous sUAS Systems to provide technical leadership in the development, integration, verification, and operational testing of advanced autonomous unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) supporting national security, defense, and emerging technology programs. This position can operate from our Beavercreek/WPAFB offices or Columbus.

In this role, you will lead complex test initiatives across software, hardware, autonomy, communications, and mission systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline as listed.
• 8+ years in test engineering, systems integration or related fields.
• Experience with verification and validation of complex systems.
• Flight tests and system integration testing experience.
• Proficiency with Python, C++, MATLAB or similar tools.
• Ability to travel up to 45% and hold security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead verification, validation, and operational testing for autonomous sUAS platforms.
• Develop test strategies aligned with mission objectives and customer expectations.
• Establish test architectures, success criteria, and performance metrics.
• Serve as technical lead for major test events and flight campaigns.
• Collaborate with software, autonomy, RF, cybersecurity, and hardware teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Support demonstrations, evaluations, and technology transitions.
