Job summary

Capgemini Engineering seeks a Safety Engineer to ensure autonomous machines are safe by design and in deployment, combining design safety with on-site safety across real-world operating environments.

You will lead hazard analyses, derive safety requirements, and develop verification plans. Travel to customer sites up to 25% to verify safety in production settings and support project teams with safety leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field (equivalent hands-on experience considered).
• Minimum 3 years engineering experience with safety responsibilities in industrial environments.
• 5+ years preferred; deep expertise in either design safety or site safety.

Responsibilities

• Review designs for safety compliance and lead design safety reviews.
• Conduct hazard analyses (HARA, STPA, FMEA, FTA) for machine systems and control architectures.
• Derive safety requirements and ensure traceability and verification.
• Determine safety integrity levels and verify risk reduction.
• Develop verification/validation plans and review test evidence.
• Maintain safety documentation and safety cases.
• Translate field hazards into future design requirements and safety improvements.
• Travel to customer sites to assess environments and develop site safety plans.
