Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute is seeking a Test Engineer, Autonomous sUAS Systems to lead planning, execution, and analysis of testing activities for advanced autonomous unmanned aerial systems supporting defense and national security missions. This position will operate from Beavercreek, OH or Columbus, OH.

In this role, you will validate system performance, autonomy capabilities, mission effectiveness, and operational readiness of next‑generation sUAS platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering or computer science discipline.
• 5+ years of test engineering or related experience.
• Experience developing verification and validation strategies.
• Proficiency with Python, C++, MATLAB or similar.
• Experience analyzing telemetry and sensor data from fielded systems.
• Ability to travel and obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead test planning and verification activities for autonomous sUAS.
• Design and conduct lab, simulation, integration, environmental, and field tests.
• Evaluate system performance against requirements and objectives.
• Develop traceability from requirements to results.
• Identify technical risks and mitigate them throughout the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with software, systems, RF, cybersecurity, autonomy, and hardware teams.
• Generate detailed technical reports and customer-facing documentation.
