Job summary

DoorDash Labs in Oakland is seeking a Hardware Validation Engineer to verify and validate the Dot autonomous delivery robot. You will design and execute test campaigns to ensure hardware meets performance, safety and regulatory goals, with occasional travel to test sites in California, Arizona and Michigan.

You will lead test reviews, build fixtures and tooling, and work with teams across DevOps, Software, Firmware, Controls, AI and Ops to drive issue resolution.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S./PhD in engineering (robotics, mechanical, electrical or computer science).
• 5+ years of industry experience in automotive or mechatronics system testing & validation.
• Hands-on CAN bus & Ethernet data logging and analysis experience.
• Experience with environmental testing such as thermal, shock, and IP testing.
• Strong cross-functional project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Validate the robotic delivery system across electrical, mechanical, thermal and sensing domains.
• Develop and execute test campaigns to meet performance, safety and regulatory goals.
• Lead test reviews and report progress; construct and maintain test tooling and fixtures.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Software, Firmware, Controls, AI and Ops to resolve issues.
