Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a Respiratory Therapist specialized in Pulmonary Function Testing in Charlottesville. This outpatient role focuses on diagnostic testing and professional autonomy, with a Monday–Friday schedule and no inpatient bedside duties.

You will perform PFTs, educate patients, and collaborate with physicians and clinic teams across UVA Health, with opportunities to pursue pulmonary function certification and growth within an academic medical

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program; Bachelor's degree required within 5 years of hire.
• Active NBRC; Virginia license to practice.
• ACLS required within 3 months; BLS/Health Care Provider certification.
• Experience: 12 months of acute/critical care RT clinical practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform pulmonary function testing and diagnostic respiratory assessments.
• Educate patients on testing procedures and ensure high-quality, reliable results.
• Independently manage patient testing schedules and clinic responsibilities.
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, and specialty clinic teams.
• Rotate through outpatient locations including specialty clinics and ambulatory sites.
• Maintain testing quality standards and support diagnostic/treatment planning.
