Job summary

Flexport in Bellevue, WA seeks a senior software engineer to build and own the client-facing rates platform and self-serve freight booking experience. You will drive rate visibility, pricing intelligence, and AI-powered automation across our ocean business.

You will own end-to-end feature delivery, including databases, backend services (Java/Ruby) and React frontend, while collaborating with product and design to deliver scalable, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years shipping production-grade software.
• Full-stack capability across databases, backend (Java/Ruby), and frontend (React).
• Experience with AI APIs and ML-powered automation is a plus.
• 2+ years design/architecture knowledge and OO design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain microservices powering rate visibility and autonomous booking.
• Own feature lifecycle from database schema to backend APIs and React frontend.
• Support AI integration and automated workflows for pricing and booking.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to turn business problems into scalable solutions.
• Contribute to code reviews and mentor peers to maintain high quality.
• Build highly available, secure, distributed systems for global scale.
• Ship code frequently with CI/CD and production deployments.
