Job summary

Pyka, an autonomous electric aviation company in California, is hiring a flight test engineer to support development and testing of its advanced aircraft. You’ll work mainly in Dixon or Victoria Island, CA, with potential travel for demonstrations and customer support.

A technical background in flight operations with manned aircraft or UAVs is preferred, though a degree is not required. Responsibilities include ensuring continuous test-site operations, recommending design improvements, and

Qualifications

• Experience flying fixed wing UAVs, multirotors, or UAV fleets.
• Experience with ground control and mission planning software.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical systems, assembly and troubleshooting.
• Basic high voltage safety knowledge and working with 120 VDC, 20–30 kW systems.
• Familiarity with Linux, command line, Git.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous operations at test sites; troubleshoot and fix issues.
• Suggest features and design changes to the team.
• Conduct fleet maintenance including aircraft, ground ops, laptops, and batteries.
• Test airframe airworthiness post production and before shipment.
• Serve as Pilot In Command or Ground Control Operator for UAVs.
• Lead or participate in ground and flight test events.
• Manage logistics to support flight operations.
