Job summary

Pyka, an autonomous electric aviation company in California, is hiring a flight test engineer to support development and testing of its advanced aircraft. You’ll work mainly in Dixon or Victoria Island, CA, with potential travel for demonstrations and customer support.

A technical background in flight operations with manned aircraft or UAVs is preferred, though a degree is not required. Responsibilities include ensuring continuous test-site operations, recommending design improvements, and

Qualifications

Experience flying fixed wing UAVs, multirotors, or UAV fleets.
Experience with ground control and mission planning software.
Experience with mechanical and electrical systems, assembly and troubleshooting.
Basic high voltage safety knowledge and working with 120 VDC, 20–30 kW systems.
Familiarity with Linux, command line, Git.

Responsibilities

Maintain continuous operations at test sites; troubleshoot and fix issues.
Suggest features and design changes to the team.
Conduct fleet maintenance including aircraft, ground ops, laptops, and batteries.
Test airframe airworthiness post production and before shipment.
Serve as Pilot In Command or Ground Control Operator for UAVs.
Lead or participate in ground and flight test events.
Manage logistics to support flight operations.
