Job summary

Zipline in Esparto, California seeks a Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician to maintain prototype aircraft, ground infrastructure, and test equipment. You will conduct hands-on maintenance, component replacement, and test setup, enabling safe test execution and reliable data capture for engineering readiness.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining prototype aircraft, ground infrastructure, and test equipment.
• Hands-on electrical and electronic assembly work across varying power levels.
• Ability to set up, instrument, execute, and document hardware tests with engineers.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot test issues to a first-order diagnosis with evidence.
• Ability to read electrical specs, drawings, procedures and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain prototype aircraft, ground infrastructure, and test equipment for campaigns.
• Replace components, perform checkouts, and keep maintenance records.
• Run semi-automated checkouts, reliability campaigns, endurance tests.
• Prepare test articles, instrumentation, and data-acquisition systems.
• Verify maintenance and test setups meet safety and data-capture requirements.
• Isolate faults and surface root-cause, coordinating with engineers.
• Produce reports linking observations to reliability and design decisions.
• Travel to Zipline sites across the United States for testing.
