Position: Autonomous Control Software Systems Engineer

Location: NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Understand complex systems, including failure modes and interfaces
  • Apply model-based systems engineering best practices to develop models of systems
  • Experience with FMEAs, FMECAs, fault trees, or other fault management tools; some software experience preferred
  • Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, with 5-10 years of relevant experience; licensing or certification may be required
  • Experience modeling complex cyber-physical systems
  • Knowledge of risk assessments, fault/failure analysis, redundancy, fault tolerance, system health management, prognosis, or fault management frameworks
  • Strong background in dynamics, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, coordination skills, and customer service attitude
Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience with avionics and software architecture
  • Knowledge of NASA software and systems development standards
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Linux, and scripting languages such as Python
