Job summary

Honda Development & Manufacturing of America in Raymond, OH is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Underbody Design Group. You will engineer structural and styled automotive components using CATIA 3D CAD and advanced materials.

You will create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for underbody systems, collaborate with styling, manufacturing, and testing teams, and work with suppliers to meet design targets while optimizing weight and cost.

Qualifications

• BSME or related engineering degree.
• 0–2 years of mechanical design engineering experience, preferably within automotive product development.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE or similar parametric 3D CAD.
• Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, including sheet metal stamping, injection molding, and casting.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D CAD models, vehicle packaging layouts, and 2D engineering drawings for underbody systems using CATIA.
• Collaborate with styling studio, manufacturing plants, and testing groups to balance vehicle performance and styling.
• Partner with automotive component suppliers to establish technical design targets and monitor milestones.
• Support prototype part build verification, physical test evaluations, and design countermeasure implementations.
• Calculate and optimize part weight, material selection, piece cost, and tooling investments.
