Job summary

Honda Development & Manufacturing of America in Raymond, OH is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and mature automotive mechanical components from concept to mass production, creating 3D CAD layouts, releasing drawings, and managing BOM cost targets.

You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, manufacturability, and supplier cost optimization, including prototype support and countermeasures for test failures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related technical field.
• 0-2 years of mechanical design engineering experience (collegiate team or co-op experience preferred).
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software and 2D drawing creation (CATIA preferred).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including stamping, plastic injection molding, and casting.
• Strong analytical reasoning, organizational skills, and technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D solid and surface parametric CAD models and detailed 2D engineering drawings.
• Establish part design concepts meeting vehicle performance, manufacturing, and maintenance requirements.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analyses and clearance studies to resolve spatial packaging variations.
• Estimate component costs, review supplier quotations, and negotiate cost optimization with Purchasing.
• Support prototype evaluations and develop engineering countermeasures for test failure modes.
