Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Fremont, CA seeks a Thermal Test Engineer to validate automotive thermal systems, including HVAC, battery cooling, and cooling components. You will test at component, system, and vehicle levels, automate data collection with Python, and troubleshoot CAN and embedded systems.

The role involves collaboration with design, software, reliability, manufacturing, and supplier teams, plus extensive lab work using DAQs, sensors, and environmental chambers.

Qualifications

• Mechanical, electrical or mechatronics engineering background.
• Experience with automotive thermal or EV testing.
• Experience with CAN communication protocols.
• Python and Pytest for test automation and data analysis.
• Experience with hardware/component validation and lab measurements.
• Understanding of thermodynamics, refrigeration and coolant systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute hardware validation and test plans.
• Test and debug thermal components at component, system, and vehicle levels.
• Automate testing, data collection, and analysis using Python/Pytest.
• Troubleshoot CAN communication and embedded systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and document test failures.
• Work with design, software, reliability, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
• Use lab equipment such as DAQs, pressure transducers, flow meters, temperature sensors, and power supplies.
• Conduct testing in environmental chambers under different conditions.
