Job summary

Snap-On Tools is seeking a tester to support vehicle communication systems testing, logging coverage, and defects. Work may be in the field at independent shops, auto dealerships, and auctions or in-house depending on project needs.

Responsibilities include in-field testing of new products, daily test data entry, updating matrices, and coordinating with engineering to resolve issues. This contract role runs up to 9 months with an hourly rate of $25–$35.

Qualifications

• Automotive diagnostic experience with scan tools.
• Experience with data entry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets.
• AA degree in Automotive Technology preferred.

Job description

Overview

Performs vehicle communication systems testing, logging test coverage and product defects. This testing activity may take place in the field (at Independent Shops, Auto Dealerships and Auto Auctions) or in house dependent on the requirement of the project.

KEY TASKS

• Perform in-field vehicle application testing for new products / primaries.
• Daily recording of test details on standardized forms dependent on project.
• Daily updating test matrices with tested vehicle information.
• Daily data entry into bug tracking program.
• Taking recordings of vehicle data when required by the project.
• Escalating serious problems to appropriate management.
• Interacting with in-house Applications and Engineering to explain details of problems found (when needed).
• Maintaining good working relationships with field test sites.
• Identifying additional test sites when possible.

REQUIREMENTS

• Recent automotive diagnostic experience using scan tools
• Experience with computer data entry
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Experience using basic word processing and spreadsheet software
• Basic computer user knowledge

Preferred:

• AA degree in Automotive Technology
• 5 year experience as an automotive repair technician
• Database data entry experience and general database knowledge
• Automotive diagnostic software development or testing

This position has an hourly rate between $25.00 - $35.00

Actual compensation may vary based on experience and other factors

This is a temp/contract position up to 9 months
