Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Automotive Test Automation Engineer in Dearborn, MI to deliver stable test environments and automate functional testing for distributed features. You will collaborate with systems, wiring, and software teams to validate electrical features before production and aid successful vehicle launches.

You will develop and execute automated tests, review requirements, log results, and participate in root-cause analysis of hardware and software defects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or related engineering field.
• Experience with Python, Matlab/Simulink or Stateflow for data analysis and modeling.
• Experience with AUTOSAR standards and automotive software development.
• 3+ years in dynamic systems and embedded real-time controls for automotive or similar electromechanical systems (C/C++).
• Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute functional test scenarios from Agile user stories.
• Interface with dev/test teams to implement automated tests and tools.
• Review requirements to ensure testability and traceability.
• Log test results and debug failures; manage defects in JIRA.
• Reproduce and troubleshoot defects with feature engineers.
• Participate in root cause analysis of hardware and software issues.
• Contribute to system design, documentation and infotainment testing.
• Provide sprint planning estimates for testing tasks.
• Maintain hardware lab nodes and perform preventive maintenance.
• Develop debugging processes for scripts and automation.
• Analyze root causes of software failures and prioritize fixes.
• Enhance automation capabilities and validate new vehicle programs.
• Identify testing process improvements and velocity tracking.
• Develop and maintain code, scripts and tools for test automation.
• Participate in code reviews and run automated tests with detailed bug reports.
