Job DetailsJob Location: FAIRPLEX CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER - POMONA, CA 91768Salary Range: $50.00 - $50.00 HourlyThe Fairplex Learning and Development Center (FLDC ), has offered years of service to providing educational resources to the community. As part of FLDC programming, the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) provides hand‑on workforce development and transformational programs that prepare high school students for long‑term careers. The Automotive Technology Instructor will deliver competency‑based instruction designed to offer high school students the opportunity to develop entry‑level skills required for employment in the automotive industry. Instructor develops and/or utilizes a variety of instructional strategies, techniques and delivery methods designed to meet the individual learning styles of students. The Instructor will foster a safe and civil learning environment and inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies and will monitor, evaluate, and document student attendance, progress and competency attainment. Successful completion of this course qualifies high school students to earn graduation credit.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain computer-based attendance, grades, and schedules
• Provide group and individualized instruction according to state-approved course outlines that are aligned with career technical education and academic content standards
• Designs and implements relevant curriculum utilizing input from advisory committee, incorporates appropriate industry recognised certifications/training (as needed), and works toward implementing the high-quality elements of Career Technical Education
• Provides instruction that is appropriately paced and directed to specific career skills while accounting for individual differences in ability, motivation and learning modalities
• Establishes and maintains a suitable learning environment that promotes student growth, skill mastery, and assures student safety
• Modify the traditional modes of delivering instructional services to reasonably accommodate an individual’s disabilities
• Establishes and maintains comprehensive student files, including follow-up survey information
• Guides students in making career-related decisions
• Collaborate with peers to plan and develop lessons for the automotive pathway courses
• Develop and implement appropriate safety procedures for the automotive classroom and facility
• Knowledge of current market trends and industry development/practices/standards for automotive technology
• Provide effective teaching and classroom management strategies, while maintaining a safe classroom environment
• Work closely with community partners and educational institutions
• Participate in CTEC department, general and advisory committee meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for a Designated Subjects Career and Technical Education Teaching Credential with authorization in the Automotive Industry sector.
• Three – five years work experience in a related automotive field with current knowledge of industry standards.
• Hold ASE Master Certification or hold a minimum of ASE Certification in the following areas: Brakes, Steering & Suspension, Engine Performance and Electrical.
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
• Possess strong organizational skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB

• Must be able to type and use various computer software applications
• Must be able to communicate in person and over the telephone
• Ability to walk and be on feet for several hours a day and lift up to 25 pounds
• Ability to walk up and down stairs
• Must be able to work flexible hours (classes are held during weekday afternoons/evenings)
• Must be available to work some weekends and/or evenings
• Must have reliable transportation
