Job summary

AutoNation is seeking a Non-Certified Technician in Texas to inspect and service vehicles as they are delivered to the dealer, performing minor repairs to place cars in saleable condition. The role offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits with paid training and OEM certification support.

You will inspect vehicles for safety and defects, test drive to verify operation, and install optional equipment as requested. A valid license and basic mechanical skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6–12 months of previous work experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information.
• General mechanical skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles delivered to the dealer for safety and defects.
• Inspect surfaces for chips and scratches in paint.
• Start engine and road test to evaluate steering, brakes, transmission and engine.
• Test power equipment (windows, seats, radio, lights) for proper operation.
• Install optional equipment as specified by the customer or dealer.
• Replace defective items using hand tools per specifications.
• Install or repair major mechanical systems (A/C, power steering, brakes).
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and tuning as needed.
