Job summary

CarMax is seeking an Automotive Technician in Houston, TX. You will diagnose, repair, and recondition vehicles to meet CarMax safety and quality standards in a clean, climate-controlled shop environment.

You’ll work on engines, brakes, steering, suspension, and related systems, with growth opportunities as your skills expand. This role offers an hourly pay structure with eligibility for commissions and a comprehensive benefits program.

Qualifications

• Basic to intermediate experience in automotive repair, including engines, brakes, suspension, or HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of workplace safety protocols and compliance standards.
• Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles to meet CarMax standards.
• Perform automotive services from basic maintenance to complex mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Complete multi-point inspections and document findings.
• Repair or replace vehicle components to support reconditioning efforts.
• Assist with alignment, suspension, and performance diagnostics.
• Collaborate with teammates to meet production goals and uphold CarMax values.
