Job summary

Merchants Auto in Hooksett, NH is seeking an experienced automotive technician to join a fast-paced, high-volume shop. You'll work on a wide range of vehicles and contribute to safe, reliable service for our customers.

This role emphasizes quality repairs, diagnostics, and continuous learning within a supportive team. ASE certifications are valued, with opportunities for growth within Merchants Auto and Merchants Fleet.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of automotive repair experience.
  • Three ASE Certifications or equivalent OEM certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of automotive repair experience.
  • Seven ASE Certifications or equivalent OEM certifications preferred.
  • Master ASE Certification strongly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain certifications within one year if not currently certified.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, brakes, fluid services, filters, and tire replacement.
  • Diagnose and repair steering, suspension, exhaust, and other undercarriage systems.
  • Conduct multipoint inspections for customer and resale vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair drivability concerns on gasoline-powered passenger vehicles and light trucks.
  • Utilize scan tools and diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle issues.
  • Perform interior and exterior trim repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical systems (Class A technicians).

What You'll Do

Depending on your experience level, responsibilities may include:

What You'll Bring
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must continue to keep a satisfactory driving record, as determined by Merchants, and remain eligible to be insured by the company’s vehicle insurance carrier. Employee must cooperate in completing any required authorizations or paperwork for regular motor vehicle checks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle systems
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles in shop and road-test environments
  • Strong diagnostic, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and teamwork
Physical Requirements
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Manual dexterity and mobility necessary to perform repair tasks
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor conditions as required
