Job summary

Belle Tire Inc. is seeking an Automotive Technician Trainee as part of our Auto Tech Development Program.

This entry-level role pairs trainees with a certified mentor to build skills on real customer vehicles and progress into a fully qualified Automotive Technician within 6 months. Ideal candidates are students or recent grads from automotive technology programs looking to accelerate their careers in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate (within 6 months) of an ASE-accredited automotive technology program.
• Completion of coursework in brakes and steering/suspension preferred.
• State of Michigan Mechanic Trainee Permit (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Must obtain required tools within designated timeframe (program support available).
• ASE certifications (A4, A5, A6 or relevant areas).
• Prior hands-on automotive experience (school, internship, or shop environment).

Responsibilities

• Secure vehicles to lifts and alignment machines for safe operation.
• Assist diagnosing vehicle issues and performing repairs.
• Support brakes, suspension, and basic maintenance tasks.
• Learn proper repair techniques across multiple vehicle systems.
• Communicate effectively with team and explain repairs when needed.
• Deliver high-quality workmanship to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Stay current with evolving automotive technology, tools, and repair processes.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized shop environment.
• Complete training milestones and program competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store leadership.
