Job summary

Belle Tire’s Auto Tech Development Program is recruiting an entry-level Automotive Technician Trainee to gain hands-on shop experience while working with a seasoned mentor. You’ll learn to diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle systems in a fast-paced tire and automotive service retail environment.

Under structured mentorship, you will progress toward ASE certifications and a full Automotive Technician role within six months, with defined milestones and clear career progression.

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate (within 6 months) of an ASE-accredited automotive technology program.
• Completion of brakes and steering/suspension coursework preferred.
• State of Michigan Mechanic Trainee Permit or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Must obtain required tools within designated timeframe (program support available).

Responsibilities

• Secure vehicles to lifts and alignment machines for safe operation.
• Assist with diagnosing vehicle issues and performing necessary repairs.
• Support brakes, suspension, and basic maintenance tasks.
• Learn and apply repair techniques across multiple vehicle systems.
• Communicate effectively with team and explain repairs when needed.
• Deliver high-quality workmanship to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Stay current with evolving automotive technology, tools, and repair processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
• Complete required training milestones and program competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store leadership.
