Job summary

GLS North America is seeking a Resale Technician in Michigan to inspect, remove prototype parts, order replacements, install parts, complete vehicle modifications and recalls, and conduct final inspections before road tests. A tester then sends the vehicle to Ford or auction.

Requires attention to detail and strong mechanical aptitude. The role offers a starting pay of $20 per hour, Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–3:30 pm, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance,

Qualifications

• : Requirements include a valid driver’s license, strong communication, customer service orientation, time management and multitasking, being a self-starter and reliable team player, knowledge of vehicle parts and systems, ASE certifications, plus computer diagnostics and electronics proficiency.

As a Resale Technician, you are responsible for inspecting and removing any prototype parts, ordering replacement parts, installing parts, completing vehicle mods, completing recalls, and final inspection of vehicles. A different technician test‑drives vehicles to ensure nothing is overlooked. Once complete, the vehicle and its work order are sent to the Ford customer for processing and label ordering before the vehicle is shipped to the auction or back into the Ford inventory of vehicles.

Salary Overview

The pay rate for this role starts at $20 per hour based on experience.

Hours

The hours for this role are Monday through Friday, 6 am to 3:30 pm.

Resale Technician Responsibilities Include

• Complete the inspection (CAPL worksheet) on each vehicle.
• Visually check for prototype or broken parts on each vehicle.
• Conduct final inspections and get each vehicle ready for road tests.
• Complete vehicle mods and recalls as needed.
• Diagnose vehicle issues as requested.
• Install ordered parts.
• Perform electronic updates or flashing as needed.
• Adhere to Suburban Automotive Service’s DRIVEN values and align business practices to support the SAS mission and vision.

Resale Technician Qualifications And Skills

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Must be customer service oriented.
• Must have exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills.
• Must be a self-starter.
• Must be a reliable team player.
• Able to identify parts and vehicle components with a detailed understanding of vehicle systems and the ability to diagnose system failures.
• State of ASE certifications for mechanics and vehicle repair.
• Computer diagnosis and vehicle electronics.
• Able to operate shop equipment and tools such as hoists, A/C machines, tire machines, balancers, and computer technologies.
• Proficient in reading and understanding vehicle schematics and own basic power tools, impacts, grinders, cutting tools, sanders, and hand tools.
