Big O Automotive Technician Job Description

Big O Automotive Technicians diagnose, recommend, and perform automotive repairs accurately and efficiently, adhering to all company policies and procedures. Technician titles are based on ASE certification levels:

  • Automotive Technician A - 4 or more ASE Certifications
  • Automotive Technician B - 1-3 ASE Certifications
  • Automotive Technician C - No ASE Certifications

Responsibilities
  1. Perform brake, front end, and alignment maintenance, along with mechanical repairs, following all company policies and procedures.
  2. Diagnose and repair customer vehicles, ensuring quality control of all shop functions.
  3. Train and coach other employees as directed.
  4. Maintain smooth workflow and customer service efficiency.
  5. Provide Big O's Extra Care Services to all customers.
  6. Attend weekly meetings to review safety, policies, and product updates.
  7. Work with management to meet service and sales quotas.
  8. Accurately document work for invoicing.
  9. Utilize the company purchase program for profitability.
  10. Complete required training timely.
  11. Execute vehicle inspection programs consistently.
  12. Achieve service, sales, and productivity goals.
  13. Manage adjustments and core credits.
  14. Adhere to company policies; perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Minimum two years experience as a lube/tire/service technician.
  • Current Motor Vehicle Inspection License (for Missouri stores).
  • Ability to learn technical materials and operate a computer.
  • Safe operation of automatic/manual vehicles.
  • Effective communication with customers.
  • Willingness to work with hazardous materials and in outdoor conditions.
  • Compliance with PPE regulations.
  • Physical ability to move and lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Availability for flexible hours, including holidays and weekends.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Successful pre-employment screening and legal work authorization.
Preferred Skills
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Over two years of automotive shop experience.
  • ASE certifications.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Fast-paced work capability, with good time management and attention to detail.
