Job summary

Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) seeks an Automotive Technical Assistant for the Career Connect Campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan. You will assist a CTE instructor in planning and implementing automotive education activities and support student learning in a lab setting.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and recent auto industry experience. Pursuing Auto Tech education or apprenticeship is strongly preferred; entry-level candidates are welcome.

Qualifications

• Recent and relevant work experience in the auto industry preferred.
• Strongly preferred: pursuing education or apprenticeship in Auto Tech or entry-level field experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the CTE Automotive Instructor in planning and implementing educational activities.
• Support instructional activities and provide student accommodations as needed.
• Assist with lab supervision and safety protocols in the automotive area.
• Document instructional accommodations and track student progress.
• Maintain classroom records and professional appearance.

We partnerwith schooldistrictsand the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education,career learning, andeducatordevelopment, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.

We arecurrentlyseekinga Automotive Technical Assistant at the Career Connect Campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan.The essential responsibilitiesfor this positioninclude but are not limited to:

• Align services with KRESA Core Values (Collaboration, Innovation, Compassion, Respect, and Integrity) and Culture & Belonging principles to engage and serve all students
• Support KRESA core values and commitment to creating a positive, safe, welcoming and inclusive culture, prioritizing equitable opportunity, program representation and support for all students
• Assist the CTE Automotive Instructor in the planning and implementation of educational activities.
• Supplement instruction by assisting the CTE Instructor with additional student supports (i.e. individual and small group instruction, student accommodations, etc.).
• Provide and document instructional accommodations provided to support student success in the program (i.e. additional testing time, modified tests/assignments, reading assessments aloud, etc.)
• Assess auto tech related skills including automotive fundamentals, fuel system maintenance, breaks, terminology, etc.
• Assist with student supervision in lab and adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
• Model Skills for Success and encourage their use by students.
• Meet with Student Success Coordinator regularly to discuss student progress.
• Assist with work-based learning experiences.
• Assist with student leadership development and related activities.
• Attend professional development and other meetings as appropriate and requested.
• If needed, communicate with students, parents, CTE staff, and local school staff.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain instructional/classroom records as requested/required.
• Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Maintain a professional personal appearance.
• Adhere to classroom health and safety procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by teacher/administration.
• Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent.Recent and relevant work experience in the auto industry . Strongly preferred: Currently pursuing an education or apprenticeship in Auto Tech, or an entry-level worker in the field.

Thisis a 11-month calendar position in job grade 13 with anannual rate of pay between $33,885 to $48,228.
