Job summary

Ford in Palo Alto is seeking a strong automotive embedded engineer to join our team and help integrate supplier software into vehicle systems. This role blends software and systems work and offers broad visibility across the entire vehicle.

You will define interfaces, manage requirements, support cybersecurity, and develop automation tools. The position is hybrid with competitive pay and extensive benefits, visa sponsorship is available, and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong background in embedded automotive software integration.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Hands-on experience with vehicle networks (CAN/LIN/Ethernet) and diagnostics.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools (JAMA), Jira, and Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Integrate supplier software into vehicle architecture with manufacturability and diagnostics in mind.
• Define interfaces and protocols between in-house and supplier ECUs.
• Manage and trace requirements using JAMA.
• Diagnose and debug supplier ECUs with in-house systems.
• Support cybersecurity topics including secure boot and bootloader integration.
• Perform software integration, bring-up, testing, and issue resolution on benches, HIL systems, and vehicles.
• Support vehicle-level testing at proving grounds when required.
• Develop automation tools using AI and scripting to improve team efficiency.
