Job summary

Contechs in Michigan seeks a Surface Design Engineer to support interior and exterior surfaces, guiding the Design Studio from sketch through the entire design process to final surface release.

You will work closely with the design team and other departments to manage issues, liaise with Vehicle Engineering to communicate design intent, and ensure packaging standards and legal requirements are implemented. Proficiency in CATIA is essential.

Qualifications

• Solid and current CATIA experience.

Responsibilities

• Support surface development for the Interior and Exterior Surfaces
• Support of the Design Studio from the sketch phase through the entire Design process including final surface release
• Working closely with the design team and other departments to manage upcoming issues and escalating unresolved issues to the next level
• Liaise with the Vehicle Engineering team to communicate Design intent and to highlight and communicate conflicts between Product engineering and Design and negotiating solutions to support Design maturation
• Ensuring packaging standards and legal requirements are implemented and adhered to
• Deploying hard points, criteria and technical input and supporting the Design team to evolve the Design theme based on them
• Validation of technical input prior to transfer to Design and Modelling teams
• Providing feasibility supporting the design, development and integration of components and systems within specified areas of the vehicle
• Creation of reports which assess various style themes against the master sections using the appropriate company process
