Job summary

AUTOKINITON in Michigan is seeking a Mechanical Designer II to create designs for automotive structural components, ensuring they meet performance targets and customer requirements. You will collaborate with engineers, support design reviews, and help advance standard practices while maintaining BOMs and design logs.

The role requires CAD and GD&T proficiency, Inventor experience is a plus, and strong communication in English.

Qualifications

Two-year college or technical school or equivalent training.
Knowledge of design standards in automobile structures and suspension systems.
CAD, GD&T, and other software understanding.
AutoDesk Inventor experience is a plus.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Experience with modeling techniques and drawing standards.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
Ability to convey technical details to a non-technical audience.

Responsibilities

Create designs for new and improved detail parts and assemblies for automotive structural components.
Work with project team to develop designs that fit the vehicle package and meet customer performance targets.
Provide input into departmental strategic goals and measures.
Design projects for new or improved automobile structural members and modules.
Support the design process with models and analyses.
Improve standards and best practices and ensure quality compliance.
Prepare and update BOMs and maintain design open issues log.
