Job summary

Tom Wood Group is seeking an Experienced / Certified Automotive Technician to perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance to manufacturer standards and Tom Wood quality expectations. This role offers long-term career growth within a respected dealer group, with emphasis on efficiency, teamwork, and ongoing training.

You will diagnose engines, transmissions, electrical and HVAC systems, document all work clearly, and mentor junior technicians as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on automotive technician experience.
  • OEM and ASE certifications strongly preferred.
  • Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting ability.
  • Experience with modern diagnostic tools and repair software.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record.
  • Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning.

  • Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify potential issues early.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems with accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed service documentation.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

  • Stay current with evolving automotive technologies, tools, and repair techniques.
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship that meets or exceeds manufacturer standards.

Position Summary

The Experienced / Certified Automotive Technician is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance services in accordance with manufacturer standards and Tom Wood quality expectations. This role is ideal for technicians who take pride in technical excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement, and who want longterm career growth within a respected dealer group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform accurate diagnostics and complex mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Repair engines, transmissions, drive trains, suspension, steering, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems
  • Follow OEM repair procedures and dealership quality standards
  • Document all work performed clearly and accurately in the dealer management system
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors regarding repair findings and recommendations
  • Stay current on evolving vehicle technology through training and certification programs
  • Support shop efficiency by working collaboratively with teammates
  • Mentor or support junior technicians as needed

  • Familiarity with shop equipment (alignment systems, tire machines, diagnostic tools, AC service equipment)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
