Job summary

AutoNation is seeking a Senior Technician to perform vehicle repair and maintenance per dealer and factory standards, helping build customer loyalty and trust in AutoNation as a care-giver for vehicle safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years automotive technician experience.
• Automotive technical training or certifications preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills with attention to detail.
• Good communication and documentation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle repair and maintenance per repair order, ensuring dealership and factory standards.
• Communicate with Parts Department and Service Advisors to manage production and customer communication.
• Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs as authorized by customer.
• Conduct multi-point inspections and make safety/reliability recommendations.
• Document work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.
• Maintain inventory of non-stock tools used by technicians.
• Keep up-to-date with factory bulletins and training classes.
• Provide an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty.

What We’re Looking For

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

• Performing vehicle repair and/or maintenance work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards, to drive Customer loyalty.
• Communicating with the Parts Department and Service Advisors regularly to effectively manage production and Customer communication.
• Diagnosing the cause of any malfunction and performing repair, if authorized by the Customer.
• Conducting multi‐point inspections to make appropriate recommendations to ensure the safety and reliability of Customer vehicles.
• Documenting work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.
• Maintaining an inventory of normal Technician’s tools not normally inventoried by the Service department as “special tools.”
• Keeping abreast of factory technical bulletins and participating in factory‐sponsored training classes as appropriate.
• Providing an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty

What are the requirements for this job?

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience as an automotive technician
• Automotive technical training (varies based on store needs)
• Attention to detail
• Organization and follow‐up skills
• Valid in‐state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
