Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center Inc. seeks a Vehicle Safety Component Test Technician I to join the Vehicle Safety Test Team in Superior Township, MI. You will support component test operations, safety testing, and data collection across interior and exterior vehicle components.

Role requires hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude, documentation discipline, and the ability to work with engineers to execute test plans and maintain equipment in a safety-focused lab environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma.
• Preferred: Associate Degree in Automotive Technology or related field.
• Technician I level with 0–3 years of experience.
• Experience in automotive R&D testing environments.

Responsibilities

• Review test plans with engineers to understand load case prep and post-test action.
• Perform component safety testing using on-site equipment (FMVSS 201u, FMVSS 226, Pedestrian Protection).
• Prepare/assemble/disassemble vehicle test components (interior/exterior trim).
• Operate and maintain a compressed gas-powered impact test rig.
• Operate 3D measurement devices (CMM, handheld 3D scanner).
• Prepare instrumentation for testing; diagnose and repair instrumentation.
