Job summary

Genuine Parts Company is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead daily store operations and drive sales while maintaining exceptional customer service. You will work closely with the Store Manager to manage inventory, scheduling, and staff performance in a fast-paced environment.

The role combines hands-on customer-facing duties with leadership development toward future Store Manager responsibilities, including potential overtime and keyholder duties to open and close the store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in automotive aftermarket or willingness to learn all things automotive.
• Leadership experience.
• Passion for delivering customer care and building relationships.
• Thrives in fast-paced, complex environments.
• Knowledge of cataloging/inventory systems.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Automotive industry background or interest (heavy equipment, diesel, marine, etc.).
• Experience in parts store, retail, or service management.
• ASE Certifications a plus.
• NAPA Know How.

Responsibilities

• Partner daily with Store Manager on operations, sales execution, inventory health, labor/scheduling alignment, and team performance.
• Actively sell and build customer relationships across retail and wholesale channels (in-store, phone, dealer/wholesale calls).
• Model expected behaviors, processes, and customer standards.
• Execute or oversee opening and closing routines (security, cash reconciliation, end-of-day reporting).
• Handle or support administrative tasks: scheduling input, compliance documentation, performance tracking/reporting.
• Monitor core store metrics (sales, inventory accuracy/turn, customer satisfaction, cleanliness, labor efficiency, loss prevention).
• Provide leadership oversight, training and performance management for all store functions.
• Support talent development: coaching and mentoring successors.
• Drive adherence to safety, asset protection, operational processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
