Job summary

ITW Shakeproof Fasteners in Illinois is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure exemplary quality support for automotive and industrial customers. This role involves investigating NCRs, coordinating with engineering, operations, and vendors, and driving corrective actions and CI initiatives.

The position requires travel to customer locations across the Midwest, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, and strong proficiency in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, plus extensive MS Office

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 5+ years relevant experience.
• 2–5 years experience in Metals or Automotive.
• Proficiency in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, 365, SharePoint, OneNote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Independent, organized work style with time management and deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), critical thinking, organizational, statistical, and strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage inspection/quality practices to eliminate escapes and minimize customer returns.
• Review and track NCRs; collaborate with customers, engineering, operations, and vendors for corrective actions.
• Report QMS performance during management reviews and suggest improvements.
• Maintain QA records.
• Support internal and supplier audits; serve as Management Representative for external audits.
• Drive cost improvement, productivity, and CI initiatives including Six Sigma, SPC, and lean manufacturing.
• Provide training to employees and mentor maintenance/production.
• Support plant safety and environmental requirements and policies.
