Job summary

General Motors seeks a Manufacturing Software Test Engineer to lead the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of Production Test Systems across vehicle assembly operations. You will work with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, IT, Maintenance and suppliers to ensure test systems are reliable and aligned with quality and production goals.

The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, reduction of false failures, and driving improvements for Electrical First-Time Quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (CS/Engineering/Engineering Technology/Automotive Tech) or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automotive electrical systems, diagnostics, or related technologies is preferred.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and diagnostic information; strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy and implementation of Production Test Systems across vehicle assembly operations.
• Ensure test systems are reliable, validated, and optimized for launches and steady-state manufacturing.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, IT, Maintenance and suppliers to resolve issues and drive improvements.
• Oversee test software changes and content governance ensuring compliance with requirements.
• Analyze test data to identify trends, reduce false failures, and improve performance.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for test system and vehicle quality concerns.
• Support training, standardization, and best practices for plant teams and stakeholders.
