Job Title: Automotive Paint Technician

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible for all aspects of the paint application process, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation. Also, on an as-needed basis, perform duties related to Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II, Flow Inventory Associate II, and Senior Reconditioning roles.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete paint application and minor repairs, including sanding and grinding.
• Prepare paint, including color matching and mixing.
• Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
• Follow standardized work procedures.
• Ensure all vehicles meet CarMax Paint Standards.
• Maintain, repair, and clean equipment as required.
• Manage inventory levels of PPE, tools, and chemicals.
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization per CarMax 5S standards.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Perform interior and exterior detailing, interior repairs, inventory management, and paint prep functions.
• Complete additional duties as assigned by managers.

Job Requirements:

• Complete New Associate Orientation and Kronos Training.
• Meet performance standards for various reconditioning roles.
• Read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately.
• Discern appropriate paint colors for vehicle reconditioning.
• Perform multiple duties in a fast-paced environment.
• Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Effective communication skills.
• Complete CarMax functional area training for cross-training.

Working Conditions:

• Indoor and outdoor environments; may include noisy or inclement weather.
• Adhere to all policies and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
• Extended walking or standing required.
• Variable schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts.
