Job Title: Automotive Paint Technician

Overview

Under general supervision, responsible for all aspects of the paint application process, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation. Also, on an as-needed basis, perform duties of Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II, Flow Inventory Associate II, Senior Reconditioning Associate, and Senior Reconditioning Associate I.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Complete paint application and minor repairs, including sanding and grinding.
2. Prepare paint, including color matching and mixing.
3. Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
4. Execute standardized work as defined and ensure all vehicles meet CarMax Paint Standards.
5. Maintain, repair, and clean equipment as required.
6. Manage inventory levels of PPE, tools, and chemicals.
7. Ensure workplace cleanliness and organization per CarMax 5S standards.
8. Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
9. Perform interior and exterior detailing, interior repair, inventory, and paint preparation functions.
10. Complete additional duties as assigned by managers.

Job Requirements

• Complete New Associate Orientation Training - Operations.
• Meet performance standards for various associate roles and certifications.
• Read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately.
• Discern appropriate paint colors for vehicle reconditioning.
• Perform multiple duties in a fast-paced environment.
• Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Effective communication skills in dealing with customers and colleagues.
• Complete CarMax training for cross-functional coverage.
