Job summary

Holman Upfitting in Bartlett, IL is seeking a skilled Painter to prepare and apply paints to commercial vehicles and components. You will read work orders, mix coatings, and ensure finish quality while adhering to safety guidelines.

The role requires 2-5 years of automotive painting experience, knowledge of enamel and basecoat/clearcoat systems, and the ability to operate paint booths and related equipment. A valid DL and background check are required.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of automotive, fleet truck or heavy equipment painting experience required.
• Knowledge of catalyzed enamel, sealers, primers, single-stage, and basecoat/clearcoat paint systems.
• Familiarity with plural component paint mixing systems preferred.
• Experience operating in a baking booth environment preferred.
• Ability to prep, sand, buff, and correct paint imperfections.
• Willingness to complete required safety training.
• Must pass a drug test, valid DL and criminal background check prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting via power washing, degreasing, sanding, masking, and body filler application.
• Read work orders, determine materials, and verify paint colors and quantities.
• Mix and apply primers, enamels, paints, and coatings to commercial vehicles and components.
• Monitor paint viscosity for proper spray and finish quality.
• Repair paint defects through touch-up, sanding, and buffing techniques.
• Perform basic teardown/reassembly of trim and hardware as needed.
• Apply undercoating, decals, stripes, and finishing products as required.
• Operate and maintain paint booths, mixing systems, and spray equipment.
