Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking an Automotive Mechanic Technician I to join our afternoon shift, 2 pm - 10:30 pm, Monday through Friday with possible Saturdays. You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs in a shop setting and may work independently or with a team.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and 1+ years of vehicle service/repair experience, plus customer service exposure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required.
• 1+ years of vehicle service and repair experience; 1 year of customer service preferred.
• Must be able to work days, afternoons, weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Must continue training to keep up with technology and fleet changes.

Responsibilities

• Perform Preventive Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, battery replacement, and inspect vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
• Performs repairs and diagnostics as needed.
• Based on certification levels, perform repairs and maintenance (OBD II, brakes, tires, tune-ups, suspension, electrical, engine, etc).
• Keep the shop area clean and tidy; work safely and dispose of fluids per regulations.
• Inspections must be completed to a high standard.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

An entry-level vehicle technician provides high-quality vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs for vehicles. Provides exceptional service to customers and is mindful of the control of costs and time frames. The technician may work independently or in a team environment.

• Perform Preventive Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, Battery replacement, and inspection of vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
• Performs some repairs and diagnostics.
• Based upon certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance which may include: OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, electrical systems, interior/exterior components, engine and drive-line components, etc.
• Keep the shop area clean and tidy. Perform work in accordance with safety standards. Dispose of all fluids in a safe manner and in accordance with all regulations.
• Inspection must be completed at a higher standard.
• Ability to work independently, and self-driven.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Required Experience & Specialized Knowledge And Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record required.
• 1+ years of vehicle service and repair experience; 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Must be able to workdays, afternoons, weekends, and holidays when necessary
• Must continue training to maintain status and to meet with technology and fleet changes as they occur.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
• Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes to meet business requirements.
