Job summary

Pep Boys is hiring an Automotive Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair tire and automotive services while delivering an excellent customer experience.

You will explain technical diagnoses to customers and coworkers, stay current with evolving automotive technology, and mentor teammates as needed. A High School Diploma or GED, 6 months of repair experience, and a valid driver’s license are required; availability for days, nights, holidays, and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months automotive repair experience.
• Section 609 Certification preferred.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Pre-employment background check required.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications—brake/hydraulic, exhaust, electrical, cooling, suspension and alignment.
• Perform duties of all lower job descriptions (General Service Technician).
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanics and customers.
• Continuously learn new technical information in formal training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Inform management of repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.
