Job summary

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction seeks a lead automotive mechanic at Ross Correctional Institution. You will guide a team of mechanics and inmates in preventive maintenance, major repairs, and diagnostics to keep vehicles and equipment in safe working order.

Responsibilities include overseeing repairs, ensuring safety practices, maintaining records, and coordinating with the facility on vehicle service and dispatch needs.

Qualifications

• Automotive service excellence certification in at least four areas (A1, engine repair, A8, or T2/T8 diesel engines).
• Valid commercial driver’s license if motor equipment is regulated by law.

Responsibilities

• Lead team of auto mechanics and inmates, provide work direction and training.
• Perform major engine overhauls and diagnose complex mechanical problems.
• Repair vehicles and equipment, inspecting work and ensuring safety procedures.
• Assist inmates/mechanics in diagnosing issues and maintaining tool and chemical control policies.
• Maintain service records and update shop manuals and parts books.
