Job summary

Metropolitan Community College’s Automotive Technology program seeks a Lab Assistant to support students, faculty, accounting offices, and vendors. Provides setup, monitors tools, maintains inventory, and maintains accurate records for tools, parts, and vehicles.

Responsibilities include supervising part-time lab staff, conducting daily safety checks, and coordinating with faculty to ensure smooth classroom and shop operations.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in a related field.
• Two years of full-time, work-related experience.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability to drive college vehicles.
• Must pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Assists faculty with classroom and Shop Lab setup.
• Assists faculty in training and learning in classroom and lab areas.
• Purchases and resells auto parts; maintains inventory and security.
• Checks-out and monitors tools and equipment; repairs/replaces as needed.
• Maintains school training vehicles and records of repairs/disposals.
• Maintains records of funds and transmits to financial management.
• Performs daily cleanup of Auto Lab areas and exterior storage areas.
• Performs daily safety checks of heavy shop equipment and repairs as needed.
• Supervises part-time Lab Technicians and work-study employees.
• Documents and maintains records/inventory on tools, parts, equipment and vehicles.
