Job summary

Protech Automotive Solutions seeks skilled mobile technicians to install and troubleshoot GPS, telematics, and related hardware across fleet assets. You’ll work on light-duty vehicles and trucks, routing wires and ensuring reliable system performance.

Candidates should have hands-on automotive and electrical experience, with strong troubleshooting, tool proficiency, and a valid driver's license. Travel to customer sites is required; safety and quality come first.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot GPS, telematics, dash cameras, and related hardware.

• Perform basic 12V/24V wiring and routing for clean installations.
• Test network connectivity, cameras, and sensor functionality.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
• Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
• Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
• Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
• Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
• Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
• Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
• Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.

MECHANIC EXPERIENCE? WE WANT YOU.

Your automotive experience can be a strong foundation for this role. Candidates with backgrounds in:

• Automotive repair
• Automotive electrical
• Fleet maintenance
• Diesel/heavy-duty mechanics
• Vehicle upfitting
• Mobile service
• ADAS/diagnostics
• Telematics or vehicle electronics are encouraged to apply.

You don't need to know every telematics system on day one. We’re looking for strong technical aptitude, hands-on experience, and the ability to learn.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Hands‑on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers.
• 21+ years of age

NICE TO HAVE

• Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience.
• Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms.
• 12V/24V electrical experience.
• Commercial truck or trailer experience.
• ADAS scanning or calibration experience.
• ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications.
