Job summary

Protech Automotive Solutions is seeking skilled technicians for mobile installations and fleet support. You will install GPS, telematics, dash cameras, and related hardware on light- and heavy-duty vehicles, with emphasis on safety and right-first-time workmanship.

Travel to customer sites, read wiring diagrams, diagnose issues, and document installations while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with automotive electrical systems and diagnostics.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites.
• Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• Comfortable working in a mobile environment and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

• Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
• Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
• Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
• Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
• Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
• Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
• Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
• Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.

MECHANIC EXPERIENCE? WE WANT YOU.

Your automotive experience can be a strong foundation for this role. Candidates with backgrounds in:

• Automotive repair
• Automotive electrical
• Fleet maintenance
• Diesel/heavy-duty mechanics
• Vehicle upfitting
• Mobile service
• ADAS/diagnostics
• Telematics or vehicle electronics are encouraged to apply.

You don't need to know every telematics system on day one. We’re looking for strong technical aptitude, hands-on experience, and the ability to learn.

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.

• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.

• 21+ years of age

NICE TO HAVE

• Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience.
• Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms.
• 12V/24V electrical experience.
• Commercial truck or trailer experience.
• ADAS scanning or calibration experience.
• ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications.
