Job summary

City of Galveston is seeking a skilled Automotive Mechanic to perform routine to complex maintenance and repairs on city vehicles, heavy and specialized equipment. Under general supervision, you will diagnose issues, prepare work orders, and ensure safety and quality throughout the service process.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, at least three years of advanced automotive/motorized equipment maintenance and repair experience, and a valid Texas Class A or B CDL.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least three years of advanced automotive/motorized equipment maintenance and repair experience.
• Valid Texas Class A or B commercial driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work orders and discuss service requests with customers to determine repairs.
• Perform general and advanced diagnosis and repairs on city vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and perform tests after repairs.
• Operate diagnostic PCs and software to troubleshoot units.
• Perform preventive maintenance and maintain clean, organized work areas.
