Job summary

KOSTAL of America, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer for hardware electronics to lead design, validation, and support of automotive control hardware. You will own the hardware lifecycle from requirements through validation, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and customers to deliver robust electronic modules.

The role requires 5+ years in hardware design, DFMEA, thermal analysis, and PCB layout with EMC considerations, plus strong collaboration with software teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
  • 5+ years of electronic hardware design experience, automotive preferred.
  • Experience with LIN and CAN communication circuits.
  • Proficient in DFMEA and thermal analysis.
  • Experience directing PCB layout with EMC considerations.
  • Knowledge of DC motor controls using PWM is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design circuit board schematics of discrete electronics and embedded microprocessor based controls per system requirements.
  • Perform engineering analysis, including DFMEA, Worst Case Circuit Analysis, and Thermal Analysis.
  • Be clear point of contact with customer.
  • Release designs to production.
  • Interface with software engineers and document hardware control strategies.
  • Support validation of modules during DV/PV phases, including EMC lab testing.
  • Lead discussions with customers regarding hardware development and troubleshooting.
