Job summary

SGS is seeking a laboratory technician in Fairfield, New Jersey to organize and test various samples including seat belts and consumer goods. This position requires a BS in science or engineering along with some laboratory experience. Responsibilities include preparing test specimens, performing tests, and maintaining lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Some laboratory experience preferred.
• Familiarity with hand tools and power tools required.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Organize test samples including seat belts and consumer goods.
• Prepare test specimens using hand tools and power tools.
• Perform destructive and non-destructive physical testing on samples.
• Record test results accurately and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Assist in client inquiries and manage internal technical support.
• Conduct multiple projects within tight deadlines.

Skills

Familiarity with hand tools and power tools

Ability to lift and move sample boxes up to 25 lbs

Familiarity with Laboratory Quality and Operations systems

Windows-based computer programs including MS Word and Excel

Effective understanding, written and verbal skills

Forklift certification
