Job summary

Smart Start is seeking a service technician in Columbia, SC to support public safety and compliance by ensuring reliable operation of alcohol monitoring and vehicle electronics. The role blends hands-on installation with customer service for a field-based technology team.

The position requires a high school diploma, is non-exempt hourly, and offers a Monday–Friday schedule with on-site work. Training provided and opportunities for growth within Field Operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with 12-volt DC automotive/electrical systems is preferred.
• Ability to diagnose with multimeter and programming electronics.
• Hands-on installation of vehicle systems and accessories.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, troubleshoot, and remove alcohol monitoring and vehicle electronic devices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, hazard-free work environment.
• Provide phone support and customer training to ensure satisfaction.
• Make weekly reminder calls for upcoming appointments.
• Perform monthly inventory audits and assist nearby facilities as needed.
• Manage work hours and communicate with management.
• Uphold confidentiality and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Support vehicle-to-vehicle transfers as needed.
