Job summary

Killeen Independent School District is seeking a Teacher Assistant – Automotive to support a certified automotive teacher. This role assists students toward meeting academic achievement and industry certification standards by working with individuals and small groups under supervision.

Responsibilities include monitoring safety, inventory maintenance, and assisting with instructional activities to reinforce material.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience with general automotive and construction-related skills.
• Must read, comprehend, and write instructions, short correspondence, and memoranda.
• Must perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers, fractions, and decimals. Must calculate rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Must apply common sense understanding to instructions given in written, oral, or visual form. Must solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monitoring students and ensuring that the learning environment is safe and well-organized.
• Assist with maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment and ensuring the security of equipment in automotive classrooms and other designated instructional areas.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on student understanding, needs, interests, and abilities.
• Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials as assigned.
• Help students master essential skills and participate in automotive activities as directed.
