Job summary

Amentum in Dearborn, MI is hiring Test Technicians for our Body and Chassis Dyno lab. You will assist with mechanical preparation, instrumentation, data collection and test execution on automotive subsystems.

The role emphasizes collaboration with test engineers, hands-on testing, fixture setup, and documentation while meeting safety and quality standards. Prior automotive testing experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Proficient electrical and mechanical knowledge and skills.
• Good interpersonal, computer, oral and written skills.
• Fabrication experience: General machine shop (drill press, band saw, grinders, welding, mill, etc).
• Print reading and test fixture layout/build.
• Desired: Associate’s in Automotive Technology or a combination of 2 years’ experience and college.
• Previous experience in a testing environment, including hydraulic/pneumatic system controller experience, automotive systems/sub-system familiarization.
• Three (3) or more years’ experience in vehicle system and subsystem related testing preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office, PC based systems.
• Knowledge of overall vehicle systems (chassis, body, seat, suspension preferred); Engine and transmission a plus.

Responsibilities

• Complete test-related duties as assigned during daily scheduling meetings.
• Execute work independently with quality and efficiency.
• Ability to receive parts and prepare for first run subsequent runs according to test matrices.
• Ability to conduct test stand sample prep, fixturing, installation / removal, photographic documentation, test execution, data collection and review.
• Ability to run standard tests and support test engineers for unique one-off testing in a lab environment.
• Ability to run multiple test facilities simultaneously.
• Meet health and safety requirements and improve workplace conditions.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and data quality.
• Be a self-starter, motivated team player with positive attitude.
• Opportunities for cross-training and reassignment to other sites possible.
