Job summary

UACJ Automotive Whitehall Industries, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Cost Estimator in Ludington, MI to deliver accurate cost estimates and quotations for new business opportunities from the sales team.

You will review customer requirements, product documentation, tooling needs, capital requirements, and process design to build comprehensive quotes. The role demands extensive automotive process knowledge, CAD proficiency, and collaboration across design, manufacturing, and procurement to ensure

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
8–10 years automotive industry experience, incl 3–5 years supporting process design.
Experience with stamping, machining, bending, forming, welding, and assembly.
Knowledge of GD&T, APQP, PFMEA, DFA/DFM.
Proficiency with CAD and MS Office/Project.

Responsibilities

Review customer documentation to support development of accurate quotations.
Use CAD software to review and analyze product design.
Develop fabrication & assembly processes, tooling cost estimates, and capital investment requirements.
Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Quality, Extrusion, and Plant Mfg. for complete quotes.
Conduct quote reviews with management and communicate assumptions and risks.
Work with customer engineering teams to understand the product and quote needs.
Hold internal and external technical meetings to validate assumptions and requirements.
Prepare a DFM template for manufacturing feasibility reviews.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
